Info for First-Time Racers

We've received a lot of questions from first-time cyclocross racers, so we'd like to provide some information for those interested in making HPCX their first race.

Registration
You can register online at Bikereg. Bikereg makes registration easy and saves you time on race day. Pre-registering also saves you money as there is a $10 late fee for day of registration

Categories
Generally, those new to the sport should start out in either the Category 4 Men's race (if male) or the Category 3/4 Women's race (if female). Racers under 19 may race in the Supafan.com U19 categories.

Racing Licenses
In order to race, you must have either a USCF or NORBA license. If you do not have an annual license, one day licenses will be available for purchase on race day. The cost is $10.

Equipment
Any off-road worthy bike is suitable for cyclocross. A mountain bike is fine, but you must remove your bar ends. Both geared and single speed bicycles work well for cyclocross.

HPCX is once again happening in Jamesburg, NJ on Sunday, November 1 2009.

HPCX is a UCI C2 Cyclocross race, part of the Verge MAC series and ECCC Collegiate series.

HPCX is brought to you by The Highland Park Hermes and Rutgers University Cycling

Follow directions for Route 1

Take 130 South
Take 32 East
32 East turns into Forsgate Dr.
Follow to the 4-way stop intersection (Perrineville Rd. & Forsgate Dr.)
Go straight through
Park is on the right

Route 18

Take Main St. (615 South � Spotswood)
This turns into Manalapan Rd. (615)
Follow 615 into Jamesburg
After intersection, 615 & 522 you will cross over Forsgate Dr. onto Perrineville Rd.
After passing Jamesburg Municipal Complex on left, park is on the left

Route 9

Turn off at Texas Rd. (520 West)
Make left onto Englishtown Rd. (613 South)
Make quick right onto Matchaponix Ave. (612 West)
This turns into Pergola Ave.
Make right at end of road (Buckelew Ave.)
Make first left onto Forsgate Dr.
Park is on the left

Garden State Parkway

Take Exit for Route 9
Get on Route 9 South
Follow directions for Route 9

NJ Turnpike

Take Exit 8A
After Tolls Take Rt 32 East

ECCC Cyclocross

This race is part of the ECCC Cyclocross Series. If you are a current full-time student at an ECCC school, you are eligible for competition in the series.

ECCC series standings will be tracked from results of collegiate riders in traditional USCF cyclocross categories. At registration all collegiate riders must acknowledge that they are competing in the series. Collegiate racers must compete in the uniform of their respective collegiate team in order to be scored.

HPCX will feature collegiate podiums and special prizes for all races featuring collegiate subcategories (Elite men and women, 2/3/4 men, 3/4 women, and 3/4 men).
